On December 1, 1918, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes was proclaimed in Belgrade, later renamed the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1929. After the Second World War it was reconstituted as the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia under Josip Broz Tito, before dissolving through a series of wars in the 1990s. The country, in any of its forms, no longer exists today.
This note exists to mark a historical date, not to take a position on the politics that followed it. The breakup of Yugoslavia caused immense suffering across the region, and that history deserves to be remembered honestly alongside whatever came before it. The reviews below continue as normal.
